Bruce Irwin is a Los Angeles-based painter who covers a wide variety of subjects which include: influential figures in history, environmental issues, landscapes and still lifes.  In his professional career Bruce worked in the aerospace industry as a technical illustrator while rendering ‘exploded views’ of aircraft components such as actuators, valves, pumps, doors, and on.  This ‘exploded view’ approach often carried over into his paintings, resulting in a cubistic/collage/linear style.  Other influences include Diego Velazquez, Pablo Picasso, John Singer Sargent and David Hockney.  The paintings of these artists utilize much drawing as well as visible brushstrokes.
